The Barry Commoner Center for Health and the Environment (‘Commoner Center’) announces its internship program. The Commoner Center is an environmental and occupational health research institute, based at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). We work on issues such as immigrant worker health, respiratory health of high risk workers, early lung cancer detection, and air pollution in New York City.
Students from Queens College and other educational institutions may apply to intern with one of the Center’s projects for a full-time summer internship (6-8 weeks; 35 hours/week).
In the past, highly-motivated students have worked with faculty mentors in diverse areas of occupational medicine (work-related health) and environmental public health, with hands-on experience in our research activities.
What our interns gain:
· Develop a first-hand knowledge and understanding of environmental and occupational health research within a university setting in NYC
· Direct mentorship from experienced and knowledgeable faculty and staff
· Participate in Center educational sessions/presentations to explore personal career interests
